Which comes first, the red checker or the white checker? Watch Dr. Mario Jareb, a professor and author from Zagreb, lecture about the history and origins of the Croatian Grb. His research primarily focuses on the origin and development of Croatian national symbols, as well as the fate of the Catholic Church in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina during the Second World War. He is the author of From Checkerboard to Tricolor: Development and Use of the Croatian Coat of Arms and Flag Throughout the Centuries.
