History Speakers Series Episode 6: The Origins of the Croatian Grb (Coat of Arms)
Which comes first, the red checker or the white checker? Hosted by Steve Rukavina, Judi Zivic, and Mark Plavetic. Dr. Mario Jareb will share about the origins of the Croatian coat of arms known as the Grb and how it evolved culturally and politically throughout the ages. His research primarily focuses on the origin and development of Croatian national symbols, as well as the fate of the Catholic Church in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina during the Second World War. He is the author of From Checkerboard to Tricolor: Development and Use of the Croatian Coat of Arms and Flag Throughout the Centuries.
History Speakers Series Episode 5: The Few Who Defied a Sultan: Nikola Zrinski and the Siege of Szigetvár, 1566
Mr. Zidaric, author of “As only true Men Can: Nikola Zrinski’s Last Stand at Sziget,” presents the historical events and figures of the events leading to the Siege of Szigetvar and the heroism of Ban Nikola Zrinksi and valiant defense of Croatian and Hungarian army at Szigetvar in 1566. The presentation aims to present the valiant defense of Sziget to the world in English and reveal the events taking place at the borderlands of Europe and the Ottoman Empire.

Join Vjera and Katarina as they unveil the Hrvatske Legende Project—a captivating exploration of Croatia’s rich tapestry of folklore, myth, and ancestral storytelling. History Speakers Series Episode 3: Operation Storm
International law expert Luka Mišetić delivered a compelling presentation on the strategic and historical significance of Operation Storm—Croatia’s decisive military campaign that marked the turning point in the Homeland War. His talk explored how Croatia successfully repelled Serbian expansionism, restored territorial integrity, and helped bring an end to the wars in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
History Speakers Series Episode 2: USA and the Croatian Question Between Two World Wars
Dr. Čapo and John Kraljić offered a thought-provoking exploration of early 20th-century diplomatic relations between the United States and Croatia, focusing on the complex period between the two World Wars. Their presentation examined the role of U.S. envoys to the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes, shedding light on how American diplomats perceived and responded to the evolving Croatian Question.
History Speakers Series Episode 1: Herzegovinian Franciscans & Croatian Spring (1967–1971)
Episode one of the Speaker Series explored Croatia’s complex and intriguing history, focusing on the religious and political persecutions of the Herzegovinian Franciscans during World War II. The second speaker lectured about the political struggles of Croatian autonomy called “the Croatian Spring” of Croatian cultural, political, and linguistic emergence by intellectuals and students during communist Yugoslavia.

25th Anniversary of the Dayton Peace Accords Webinar
NFCACF hosted a webinar to commemorate 25 years since the signing of the Dayton Peace Accords that brought an end to the bloody conflict in former Yugoslavia and the Croatian War for Independence. The speakers spoke about the significant role of the Croatian army in Operation Storm and progress made in bringing Serbian war criminals to trial.
