Which comes first, the red checker or the white checker? Hosted by Steve Rukavina, Judi Zivic, and Mark Plavetic. Dr. Mario Jareb will share about the origins of the Croatian coat of arms known as the Grb and how it evolved culturally and politically throughout the ages. His research primarily focuses on the origin and development of Croatian national symbols, as well as the fate of the Catholic Church in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina during the Second World War. He is the author of From Checkerboard to Tricolor: Development and Use of the Croatian Coat of Arms and Flag Throughout the Centuries.

The speakers spoke about the significant role of the Croatian army in Operation Storm and progress made in bringing Serbian war criminals to trial.
