April 14, 2016  - 23rd Annual NFCA Cultural Foundation Meeting Set for Washington, DC on June 10-11, 2016
   Washington, DC -- The National Federation of Croatian Americans Cultural Foundation (NFCA) will hold its 23rd Annual Assembly of Delegates in the nation's capital on June 10-11, 2016. The Friday and Saturday receptions and meetings will be held at the Croatian Embassy and the Wash Marriott Georgetown Hotel nearby, will be the group's hotel base for the weekend.
   This weekend event will feature former Senator Mark Begich of Alaska and Antoine Ripoll, a European Union Representative to the U.S. Congress. Also, the U.S. Department of State will be represented as will officials from the Croatian Embassy. Formal invitations for guest speakers have been sent to Croatian government officials in Zagreb and Bosnian government officials in Sarajevo.
   The welcoming reception Friday night at the Croatian Embassy will feature Croatian wines and entertainment by the wonderful tamburitzan music of Sinoc, a recently formed group from the remnants of Skrseni Glas. Sinoc includes Ivo and Matt Coric, Tom, Julian and Gus Salopek and Ron "Kruno" Zivic.
   The Delegates' private meeting will take place that Saturday from 8:30 am to noon. There will be a public session of speakers from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm and local area Croatian Americans are invited to this session at the Embassy. The Delegates and special guests will hear more specifically about US-Croatian relations and about the NFCA's initiative to assist and support the Bosnian Croat community in the Federation of BiH and within Bosnia and Herzegovina nationally. The Delegates will discuss and finalize the priority agenda for the NFCA during the next year. Elections will also be held for a new Executive Committee and Board of Directors.
   All Croatian American organizations are encouraged to send Delegates and group memberships remain $500 per Delegate. There are also twelve voting Delegate spots available for NFCA dues-paying individuals. Please send us a note if you are interested in attending as an individual at-large Delegate and have any further questions.
   All visitors to the nation's capital are encouraged to make their hotel reservations by May 9th by calling 800-228-9290 and asking for the NFCA rate of $140 at the Washington Marriott Georgetown at 1221 22nd Street, NW. The local number is 202-872-1500.
   The tickets for the Friday wine tasting and reception at the Croatian Embassy are $30. There are a limited number of seats, so please RSVP with Steve Rukavina as soon as possible. Contact him at sjrukavina@gmail.com.
